In 1988 Hal &
Tina Hollcroft purchased 80 acres in Laurel Springs, North Carolina
with the intent of "Becoming Farmers." Farming had been a
part of both of our family's lives and it seemed we wanted to return
to a heritage that had been long forgotten but soon to be reborn. In
the beginning our farm was named Hal's Hill. Has a nice ring to it don't
you think? With all great ideas other great ideas are born. So the name
was changed to Barefoot Mountain Farms. This is in honor of Hal who
loves to walk around barefooted.
Our farm is located
in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains and in the middle of Christmas
Tree Country. We began planting Fraser Fir Christmas Trees hoping that
one day we would be able to supply some of the best trees, wreaths and
greenery in the country. Our prayers came true when nearly 8 years later
we harvested our first trees. We have been blessed every year with quality
trees that put smiles on the faces of our family, friends and new friends
we have made along the way. With the help of the Internet we are able
to ship trees and other items through out the United States.
It has been 20
wonderful, hard-working years since the inception of Barefoot Mountain
Farms and there are many people to thank. But without God as our Foreman
we know that none of this could have been accomplished nor could we
proceed. We continue to give God the praise and glory for it all.
God Bless,
Hal
& Tina Hollcroft
